Bali Green Escape: Full-Day E-Bike Adventure Through Jatiluwih to Penarungan — Rice Terraces, Coffee Plantations & Monkey Forest

The real Bali isn't on the beach — it's in the heart of the island. UNIKAT's Bali Green Escape E-Bike Adventure is a full-day journey through Bali's lush interior: from sacred temples and UNESCO-listed rice terraces to coffee plantations and ancient monkey forests. This is the tour that shows you Bali as the locals know it — eco-friendly, comfortable, and unforgettable.

You'll spend roughly 6 hours cycling through some of the island's most stunning landscapes — from the volcanic highlands around Batu Karu all the way down to the lowlands of Penarungan. A private support vehicle accompanies the entire tour, so there's always a backup if you want a short rest.

The Route: From Sacred Highlands to Tropical Lowlands
🛕 Stop 1 — Batu Karu Temple
Your adventure begins near the sacred Pura Luhur Batu Karu, one of Bali's six key directional temples (Sad Kahyangan). Set at the foot of Mount Batukaru — Bali's second-highest peak — this remote temple is surrounded by pristine rainforest. Unlike the crowded tourist temples, Batu Karu offers a serene, spiritual start to your day. The cool mountain air and misty jungle create an atmosphere that feels ancient and untouched.
🌾 Stop 2 — UNESCO Jatiluwih Rice Terraces
The undeniable crown jewel of this tour. The Jatiluwih Rice Terraces were recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012 for the ancient Subak irrigation system — a cooperative water management system dating back to the 9th century. Cycling through these terraces is a completely different experience from just viewing them at a lookout point. You'll feel the cool breeze, hear the water flowing through the channels, and see farmers tending their fields by hand, just as their ancestors did a thousand years ago.
The e-bike makes this stretch effortless — gentle slopes, smooth paths, and the freedom to stop whenever a panorama takes your breath away.
☕ Stop 3 — Coffee Culture: Batu Karu Coffee & Luwak Plantation
Bali's coffee culture is legendary. On this tour, you'll visit Batu Karu Coffee — a local plantation producing some of Bali's finest arabica — and the famous Luwak Coffee Plantation. Here you'll learn about one of the world's most unique (and expensive) coffees: Kopi Luwak, made from beans naturally processed by the Asian palm civet. You'll get to taste various Balinese coffee and tea blends while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
🌴 Stop 4 — Kayu Putih
After the coffee stops, the route continues through quiet village roads to Kayu Putih — a peaceful rest stop surrounded by tropical greenery. This is where you'll enjoy a traditional Balinese lunch with fresh local ingredients, recharge your energy, and prepare for the final stretch to Sangeh.
🐒 Stop 5 — Sangeh Monkey Forest
The tour's unforgettable finale: the Monkey Forest of Sangeh. Home to over 700 long-tailed macaques, Sangeh is one of Bali's most sacred natural sites. The forest is dominated by towering nutmeg trees (Pala) — some over 80 meters tall — creating a cathedral-like canopy. You'll walk through sacred temple grounds while curious monkeys approach for a closer look. It's a magical, slightly cheeky, and completely unique Bali experience.
